“Number of federal prisoners serving time for drug offenses as of August 25: 92,397. Percent of federal prison population serving sentences for drug offenses: 47.8%.”
PeakTrader:
We can thank America’s great law enforcement for reducing U.S. crime rates dramatically.
Unfortunately, crime is much higher in Latin America:
An Economy Booms–Even as Crime Explodes

“Compared to the U.S. homicide rate of five per 100,000, Mexico’s homicide rate of 18 to 22 per 100,000 is tragically high. But it’s still lower than Brazil’s 25 per 100,000.”

NPR:
“Drug abuse is primarily a medical problem, not a crime against
society. American anti-drug policy is a means of social control that’s
rooted in racial and ethnic prejudice. The country’s incarceration
industry has become a self-sustaining force, predicated on economics
rather than justice.”

What a bunch of propaganda. An honest evaluation, based on actual data, would conclude a need to spend more on the War on Drugs, e.g. rehabilitation, and reverse the decriminalization of marijuana.

Morganovich, you don’t have the liberty to pollute unabated.
There are laws, whether you like them or not.
Moreover, eating too many french fries will not increase crime, reduce productivity, create crack babies, lower student performance, cause mental illness, destroy families, generate traffic & work injuries & fatalities, raise unemployment, boost domestic violence and child abuse, etc..

MP:
Exactly the same though for alcohol, should we go back to a War Against Alcohol, and put people in cages for consumption and sale of beer/wine?
Moreover, alcohol increases crime, reduces productivity, creates FAS babies (about 36,000 per year), lowers student performance, causes mental illness, destroys families, generates traffic & work injuries & fatalities, raises unemployment, boosts domestic violence and child abuse, etc..

So, because there’s a certain level of mercury poisoning, we should raise lead poisoning.

Duracomm:
The war on drugs ended years ago. The drugs won.
The only question remaining is how much human destruction drug war dead enders like PeakTrader are willing to cause fighting a lost war.
-------
PeakTrader:
Duracomm, that statement only proves you lost and the propaganda won.

Prohibition
“Prohibited the commercial manufacture and distribution of alcoholic beverages; it did not prohibit use, nor production for one’s own consumption. Moreover, the provisions did not take effect until a year after passage -plenty of time for people to stockpile supplies.
Alcohol consumption declined dramatically during Prohibition. Cirrhosis death rates for men were 29.5 per 100,000 in 1911 and 10.7 in 1929. Admissions to state mental hospitals for alcoholic psychosis declined from 10.1 per 100,000 in 1919 to 4.7 in 1928.
Arrests for public drunkennness and disorderly conduct declined 50 percent between 1916 and 1922. For the population as a whole, the best estimates are that consumption of alcohol declined by 30 percent to 50 percent.
Violent crime did not increase dramatically during Prohibition. Homicide rates rose dramatically from 1900 to 1910 but remained roughly constant during Prohibition’s 14 year rule. Organized crime may have become more visible and lurid during Prohibition, but it existed before and after.”

We know math requires a lot of repetition and we know women don’t repeat themselves often, although they tend to talk more.
So, that may explain why more men are better than average in math and more women are better than average in language

Commissioner’s Remarks – NCES Statement on PISA 2009
“In reading literacy, female students scored higher, on average, than male students in all 65 participating countries and other education systems.
In mathematics literacy, male students scored higher on average than female students in 35 countries and education systems; female students scored higher on average than male students in 5 countries.
In science literacy, male students scored higher on average than female students in 11 countries and female students scored higher on average than male students in 21 countries.”

It’s a demanding job for women doing what’s required to take good care of an infant.
The question is who should pay for it?
******
I think, this huge difference in workplace fatalities reflects a fundamental difference between men and women.
Generally, men are willing to take much greater risks for much higher rewards, while women play it much more safely.
